Marguerite Louise Payne Causby

Marguerite Louise Payne Causby, age 93 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, after an extended illness.

Marguerite was born on October 17, 1928, in Gordon County, GA, daughter of the late Jessie H. and Mae B. Payne. She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church for over 75 years, where she served as a GA leader, kitchen staff and in the choir. Marguerite was a graduate of Calhoun High School. Her career was accounting. She retired from Gordon Hospital. She loved taking care of her family, attending church, flower gardening and quilting. She was a member of the Scrappy Quilters Guild in Calhoun. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Marguerite was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fairell C. “Sonny” Causby; and one sister, Sarah Payne Brown.

Marguerite is survived by one son, Stephen Causby of Calhoun, GA; one daughter, Kathi Causby of Calhoun, GA; two grandchildren, Stephen Causby, II (Elizabeth) and Seth Causby; and one great-granddaughter, Erin Causby and one great-grandson, Jaxson Causby.

A private funeral service for Marguerite Causby will be conducted on Monday, July 11, 2022, with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Chaplain Dudley Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

The family expresses special thanks to Carmel Schlampf, the staff of Tapestry Hospice, North Georgia Home Sitters, The Fountains Assisted Living and West End LTC Pharmacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marguerite’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
