Monday, July 17, 2006 Miss. Marion E. Watkins, age 87, of East Point, Ga. Died Friday July 14, 2006 and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was born in Fairmount, Ga. On June 10, 1919 daughter of the late James H. and Velma Byrd Watkins . She graduated from Fairmount High School and later moved to Atlanta and attended Business School. She was an Adminastrative Assistant for the Greyhound Bus Lines and retired from the Atlanta Board of Education. She was an active member of the East Point Historical Society, The Gordon County Historical Society, The Atlanta Retired Educators Association and The Greyhound Retirees Club and was of the Baptist Faith.. Marion was very creative enjoying many types of arts and crafts. She was a Procelain China painter and many friends enjoyed gifts from this talent. Another hobby was Geneolobgy and she was tracing many lines of her family. She was especially proud of her work on the Byrd geneology. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister; Martha Watkins. She is survived by cousins; Phillip Byrd , Phillip Langford, Linda Langford Reynolds,and Nancy H. Jordan. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday July 18th. 2006 from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Parham Hammontree officiating. Interment will follow in the White Family Cemetery in Fairmount, Ga.. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the services. The family requests memorials be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home Servants of Relief for Incurable Cancer, 760 Pollard Blvd. S.W.
