Martha Ann Hooper, age 86 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026 at The Fountains.
Martha was born on March 5, 1940 in Cortland, NY, daughter of the late Wendell Eaton and Reberta Parker Eaton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her husband, George H. Hooper; son, Mark Alan Hooper; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Linda Eaton. She was a member of the Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
Martha was a sweet and genuine woman who was loving and kind to everyone she met. She loved her family and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, and would be quick to tell you how many Great grandchildren she had. Martha embraced the simplicity of life with joy and laughter. You could see this in her steady presence, never upset for you living the details of your life, but always grateful and excited to spend just a few moments in conversation with you on the phone or in her living room. She had a gift for listening, always making you feel heard and seen. You could see this in the way she loved animals, perhaps because an animals love is reflective of loyalty and forgiveness and that resembled her own soul. You could see it in the way she would dance to a good song, just like she did in her younger days. Martha was gentle in spirit and tender in heart despite enduring many trials and hardships in her life. There was never a question that you were loved when you were with her. It was often said, the world would be a better place with more people like Martha in it.
Martha is survived by: two sons, Paul Hooper and his wife Paula, and Neil Hooper and his wife Kimberly; daughter, Elaine Tuttolomondo and her husband Joe; brother, Brian Eaton and his wife Elaine; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 12 PM until 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
A celebration of the life of Martha will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 2 PM with Dr. Bob Butler officiating.
