Mrs. Mary Helen Watson

Mrs. Mary Helen Watson, age 88 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at Advent Health Gordon.

Mrs. Watson was born in Gordon County on November 17th, 1937, a daughter of the late William Otto Woody and the late Capola Jorden Woody. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Watson; four children, Janice Smith, Marvin Smith, Jacky Smith and Jerry Smith; step-mother, Mary Jo Woody. She worked in the textile industry before retiring from Carriage Industries. She was attended the New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Watson was known for her loving nature and infectious smile, she had a generous heart and always did more for others than for herself. She enjoyed gardening and had a deep love for all animals, especially her dog, Peanut.

Survivors include her daughter, Maria Annette Smith; two sisters, Joan Sumner and her husband, Doug and Sandra Rogers and her husband, Larry; four brothers, Marvin Woody and his wife, Jewel, Randall Woody and his wife, Donna, Stanley Woody and his wife, Terry, and Mickey Woody and his wife, Shelia; grandchildren, Grace Smith and Moses Ingle; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Jacob, and Eden Ingle.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 2 PM in the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbell Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include David Crider, Aubrey Davis, Moses Ingle, Stanley Woody, Mickey Woody, and Doug Sumner.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15th from 11 AM until 2 PM at the funeral home.
