Calhoun

Maxine D. Cobb, born on June 8, 1929, in Gordon County, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at Gordon Health Care. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was an inspiring testament to love, devotion, and service.

Before her well-deserved retirement, Maxine dedicated many years as a teacher's aide for the Gordon County School System, touching countless lives with her compassion and gentle guidance. She believed in the power of education and was instrumental in nurturing the minds of young learners, instilling in them the values of curiosity and kindness.

Maxine's life was rich with experiences and memories that will forever be treasured. She had a profound love for travel, exploring the world alongside her beloved husband, Rev. James Cobb. Together, they created countless joyful moments, discovering new horizons and deepening their bond through shared adventures. The holidays held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in gathering her family together, creating warm and loving traditions that will continue to resonate through generations.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Maxine was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she found community and solace, often expressing how much it meant to her to share her love for God and her fellow congregants.

Maxine is survived by her devoted husband, Rev. James Cobb, and her loving children: Randall (Marsha) Talley, Alan (Melba) Talley, Terry (Rhonda) Talley, Donna Talley Jackson, and Mark (Teena) Talley. She also embraced her blended family with love, including step-daughters Christy (Earl) Smith and Sherri (Jackie) Cooper. Maxine’s legacy will live on through her nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a piece of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bunyan D. Davis and Nance Clifford Free Davis, and her first husband, Spencer Talley. She is also reunited in spirit with her beloved siblings: Buddy Davis, Lois Owen, Doris Owen, and Jamae Baker, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday,  November 9, 2025, at Antioch Baptist Church from 1 PM to 3 PM.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm, with Rev. Derron Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Grandsons and Great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Maxine Cobb's indomitable spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy rich in love and faith, one that will continue to inspire and uplift every heart she touched.
