Murel Sherman Jacks

Murel Sherman Jacks, age 85 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at AdventHealth Gordon. 

Murel was born on July 6, 1938 in Calhoun, GA, son of the late Donald Lee Jacks and Mary Brown Jacks. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: three sisters: Polly Hightower, Betty Prater and Patsy Dixon; and his brother, Johnny Jacks who passed just 12 hours after Murel. 

Murel served in the Georgia National Guard. Murel worked for Charles Price’s Flooring prior to his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed wrestling, BINGO, crossword puzzles, and his Little Debbie snacks. Murel was loved by everyone who knew him. 

Murel is survived by: one brother, Steve Jacks; sister-in-law and caretaker, Judy Jacks; and several loving nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express their gratitude for the nurses and staff of Calhoun Health Care for the love and care they gave to Murel the past two years. 

The family will receive friends for both Murel and Johnny on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for both Murel and Johnny will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Gaddis and Reverend Clyde Painter officiating. Interment will follow in Salmon Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Keith Thomas, Brian Thomas, Wade Gravitt, Tyler Sutton, Chris Hightower, and Andy Hightower.
