Opal Elizabeth Rickett Holcomb, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at her residence.
Opal was born on April 28, 1936 in Gordon County to the late Dallas “DC” Claude Rickett and Finnie Lenora Cooper Rickett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Alton Holcomb. Opal was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist. She was also a member of the Sonoraville Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Opal is survived by her two sons, Kim Holcomb and his wife LaDonna of Calhoun and Dallas Holcomb and his wife Kim of Calhoun; six grandchildren, Wes and his wife Betsy Holcomb, Ethan Holcomb, Jessica Holcomb and her fiancé Zach Walden, Kayla Holcomb, Meagan Grant and Lauren Holcomb; one great-grandson, Liam Dufour; and sister, Ruth Rickett Juliano. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 29th at 3 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Parker and Reverend Ronnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Reverend James Justice in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving will be Billy Kay, Scott Burnette, Randy Myers, Allen Walker, David West, JB Rickett, Billy Erwin and Greg Clance.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 27th from 4 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
