Robert Eugene Burns

Robert Eugene Burns, age 48 of Calhoun passed away suddenly Thursday, May 30, 2019 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Robert was born in Gordon County on March 16, 1971 to the late Albin Eugene Burns and Shirley Southerland Burns. He was employed by Toyo Tire, and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Desert Storm. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Odie and Carlis Burns; brothers, Rusty Goforth and Jeff Goforth; sister, Sylvia Williams; stepmother, Sue Burns. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Parker Burns to whom he married May 19, 2019; two brothers, Shane Burns and James Goforth; one sister, Stephanie Wine; four stepchildren, Ian Swisher, Aaron Swisher, Jessica Sims and Toshia Sims; eleven step grandchildren, Trenton, Hunter, Kyle, Macie, Grayson, Alice, Bud, Karina, Delilah, Tye, and Logan; four nieces and nephews, Kayla, Meagan, Telena, and Jarrett; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2019 and Monday, June 3, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Pallbearers serving are Billy Hawkins, Danny Wine, Keith Sikes, Brandon Hollingsworth, Heath Hufstetler, T.J. Blanchard, and Timothy Stein.
