Ross David Smith, age 69 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at AdventHealth Gordon.

David was born on September 4, 1956 in Calhoun, GA, son of the late William Ulus Smith and Frances Louise James Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: a son, William “Bill” Smith. David was a proud graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1974, where he was an active member of the marching band. He continued his education at Jacksonville State University, where he remained involved in music as a member of the marching band from 1974 to 1978 and the Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity. A faithful member of Salem Baptist Church, David deeply loved his church family and found great joy in teaching Sunday School. David dedicated more than 25 years of his career as a Quality Control Manager at Mohawk Industries. Prior to his retirement, he also worked for Shaw Industries.

David is survived by: his wife of 26 years, Nancy Mullinax Smith; three daughters, Angie (Tommy) Tormey, Ashley (Jason) Nannie, and Brittny (Jacob) Greeson; two sons, Steven (Jana) Rice and Mitchell (Amy) Cox; nine grandchildren, Mia, Logyn, Ashdon, Kylie, Jayden, Oliver, Marin, Caleb, and Peyton; sister, Karen Denise (Johnny) Stansell; and brother, William Douglas “Doug” Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Salem Baptist Church and also on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 1 PM until 2 PM at Salem Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 2 PM at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Drew Elrod and Reverend Eric Elrod officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Ashdon Smith, Jayden Nannie, Mike Mowry, Matthew Craig, Alan Jackson, and Jacob Greeson.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Ken Conner Adult Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of David may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund at 1501 McDaniel Station Road, SW, Calhoun, GA 30701.
