Sharmon “Grammie” Michelle Gazaway, age 62, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on July 29, 2025,at her residence.

Sharmon was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on March 02,1963, to the late Joel Edwin Ferguson and Linda Towers Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Heath, and a precious grandchild. Sharmon was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her home and the people in it. She was a member at the Fellowship Baptist Church, in Calhoun, Ga. She loved to write. Some of her work included poems, short stories, and two novels. Sharmon found joy in her garden, her cats, and moments with family.

Sharmon is survived by her loving husband Wayne Gazaway of 45 years; three sons, Wes Gazaway and his wife Rachel, Justin Gazaway and his wife Grace, Jordan Gazaway and his wife Celeste; brother, Keith and his wife Teresa; Grandchildren, Lilli Gazaway, Larissa Gazaway, Lyla Gazaway, Summer Mathews, Tyler Mathews, Emma Gazaway, Abigail Gazaway, James Gazaway, and Elijah Gazaway; great-grandson, Beckett Gazaway; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 2nd from Sugar Valley Baptist Church at 3 PM, with Rev. Bobby Thomas, Rev. Joe Hall, Rev. Wes Gazaway, Rev. Justin Gazaway, and Rev. Jordan Gazaway officiating. Sharmon will lie in state 2 to 3 PM. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Church Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Friday, August 1st, in the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home, from 5 to 8 PM.

Pallbearers include Wayne Gazaway, Wes Gazaway, Justin Gazaway, Jordan Gazaway, Keith Ferguson, and James Gazaway.

Honorary Pallbearers include Rusty Hicks, Tommy Gazaway, Matthew Ferguson, and George Hutchinson.
