Terry Ruel Wheeler

Terry Ruel Wheeler, age 77, of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday evening January 30th at Advent Health Gordon.

Terry was born April 12, 1946, in Spartanburg, SC., son of the late Frank Arthur Wheeler and Claudia Pauline Coggins Wheeler. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force and prior to his retirement was a service manager for Ford. Terry was a cowboy and a gunsmith, a true outdoorsman. He was a past member of the Gordon County Saddle Club and the Single Action Shooting Society. 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank L. Wheeler and his son-in-law, Steve Mohon.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Bentley Wheeler, and two children, Tabitha Mohon and Travis Ruel (Katelyn) Wheeler. Five grandchildren, Noah Boor, Isabelle Boor, Thatcher Ruel Wheeler, Scott Mohon, and Heather Mohon. Two sisters, Claudia Humphries and Carolyn Elston. His stepmother, Harriet Black Wheeler and many nieces and nephews. Terry is also survived by his four-legged furry children, Dusty, Missy, Lucky, Leo, Kola, Baer, and Tripp. 

The family will receive friends at Thomas Funeral Home Saturday evening from 5 until 7pm. 

After visitation Terry will be taken to Wood Mortuary, 300 West Poinsett Street, Greer, SC. 29650, where he will lie in state Sunday February 4^th from 2 until 5pm. 

Graveside services will be conducted Monday February 5^th at 11am at Hillcrest Memory Gardens. 

Dress code for Terry's services will be "cowboy casual."
