Virginia Short Barnette

Virginia Short Barnette, age 68 of Dalton, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at her residence.

Virginia was born on October 3, 1956 in Walker County, GA, daughter of the late Roy Edward Short and Dorothy Norton Short. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: two brothers, Charles Short and Billy Short; two sisters, Mary Rolen and Gail Lambert; and two brothers-in-law, Sam Barnette and Larry Barnette.

Virginia is survived by: her husband, Jerry Clifford Barnette; two sons, Levi Clifford Barnette and Devon Roy Barnette; three grandchildren, Conner Orion Barnette, Levi Charles Barnette, and Shawn A. Barnette; one great-grandson, Kian Barnette; three brothers, Paul Short, Danny Short, and Ronnie Short; sister, Pauline Chadwick; and sister-in-law, Linda Chastain.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Barnette and Reverend Larry Peace officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Dereck Bunch, Shane Barnette, Waylon Smith, Christopher Noland, Abram Zuniga, Andrew Painter, Eddie Bramlett, and Ayden Smith.
