Wednesday, August 30, 2006 Mrs. Vivian Henderson, age 81 of 571 School House Rd., Calhoun, died today Wednesday August 30, 2006 in Gordon Health Care following an extended illness. Mrs. Henderson was born in Barbour County, Alabama on June 12, 1925 daughter of the late John R. and Willie Mae Palmer Standifer. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church, the Sequoyah Garden Club, The Mary Martha Sunday School Class, the Calhoun Womens Club and was a Sunday School Teacher, and was a loving Mother and Devoted Wife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Y. Atkins Henderson Jr. in September of 2000. Survivors include her daughters and sons–in-law; Nevelle and Bob Johnson of Atlanta, and Nancy and Doug Henrick of Brunswick, Ga. sons and daughters-in-law; George and Patti Henderson of Gainesville, Ga. and John and Kaye Henderson of Atlanta, a sister; Ann and her husband A.F. “Sonny” Myers of Panama City, Florida. Nine grandchildren and they include; Vivianne Henrick Smiler , Alice Henrick Biathrow, Jacob Henderson, Jennifer Henderson, Matt Henderson, Sam Henderson, Ginny Johnson, Ben Johnson and Margaret Johnson. One great-grandchild; Cody Smiler. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 2nd 2006 from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Carl Biathrow, Sam,Jacob and Matt Henderson, Ben Johnson, John Smiler, Junior Davis and Calvin Caldwell and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday.The Mary Martha Sunday School Class will serve as honorary Escort and are asked to meet at the Church at 10:45 A.M. Saturday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00P.M.on Friday evening. In addition to flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Benevolent Fund of the Calhoun First Baptist Church.
