William L."Bill" Deaton

Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Mr. William L. “Bill” Deaton, age 64 of 4658 East Nance Springs Rd., Dalton, Ga. and formerly of Calhoun, died Monday January 22nd. at his residence. Bill was born in Gordon County on January 17th. 1943 son of the late Harold S. Deaton Sr. and Mary Louise Prater Deaton. He formerly attended the Calhoun First Baptist Church and the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Whitfield Co.. He was a technical engineer/ supervisor for the Lockheed –Martin Aircraft Manufacturing in Marietta, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, Serving with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Oline Elizabeth Prater Deaton, and a brother; Harold S. “Sonny” Deaton Jr. Survivors include one son; David Spencer Deaton of Dalton, one daughter; Tonni Deaton of Calhoun, and one sister; Shirley Roy of Melbourne, Fl. Two grandchildren , two nieces; Amy Roy Haeger and Lisa Deaton and a nephew; Rob Roy. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday January 25th., 2007 from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Herman Westbrook,Glenn Faith, Donald and Jimmy Jones, Rob Roy, Richard Cantrell, Brad Lewis and Charles Prater and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:45 P.M. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday evening.
