Willie Yvonne Shields White

Mrs. Willie Yvonne Shields White born April 28, 1924 entered her heavenly home on March 2, 2022. She lived an amazing 97 years. She loved to share stories of her adventures. One of these adventures was moving from Fairmount, GA to Seattle, Washington to work on Boeing aircraft during WWII. She loved making quilts that she shared as gifts with family and friends. She was an avid reader. She loved to travel and spend time with family.

She was the wife of Boyd White, mother of Letha (Terry) Nesbitt and Jack (Pat) White. Grandmother of Wendi (Joel) Murphy, Cindy (Mark) Butler, Lisa Taylor, Greg (Karen) Nesbitt and Jim (Angela) White. She had six great grandsons Andrew Nesbitt, Harrison and Hayden (Caitlin) Murphy, David Butler and Jim and Ben Traylor. Beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James Carter and Essie Mae Shields, husband Boyd, son Jack, grandson Jim and three sisters Dimple Ross, Bernice Hicks and Juanita Childers.

The family would like to thank Doris Harris for being her care giver for many years. We also thank the staff at The Oaks at Fairmount, Homestead Hospice, and AdventHealth home health nurses and physical therapist. Each member of these organizations provided excellent compassionate care. We are forever grateful and pray Gods blessings to each of you. Never grow weary of the amazing work you provide each day.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 11 AM until 12 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Gordon Memorial Gardens with Reverend Lamar Bearden in charge of graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers gifts can be given to the Oostanaula Baptist Church where she was the oldest member.
