Winnie Goble Hobgood

Winnie Goble Hobgood, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 15th  surrounded by her loving family. Winnie was married to her late husband, John “Kelly” Hobgood for 69 years. She, is also preceded in death by her only daughter, Patricia Hobgood Page as well as her parents, Robert “RB”  and Ollie Goble , brothers include Gordon, Wallace, Eugene, Baxter “Bunk”, Floyd, Newton, Douglas, and Franklin Goble, sisters were Pauline Thomason, Estelle Messer, Odelle Taylor, Ethelyn Potts, Betty Bailey and Patsy Wingate.

She is survived by her sons, Barry Hobgood and his wife Diane, John Hobgood and his wife Susan as well as seven grandchildren: Shawn Hobgood, Josh Hobgood and his wife Danielle, Sarah Smith and her husband Ryan, Ross Page and his wife Connie, Trev Page, Heather Hobgood and Brittany Hobgood. Step Grandchildren include James Podbielski, Jennifer Weaver and husband Lee, Michelle Gallman and husband Zach also loving her 18 great grandchildren. Two Amazing sisters, Nancy Goble Adcock and Roxie Leffew and husband Freddie and Sister- In-Law Jerlean Goble. Many precious nieces, nephews and cousins from this big and glorious family.

Winnie was one of the most charismatic, sassy, funny and loving people you could ever meet! She was a wife, mother, sister and homemaker as well as an expert seamstress and worked for many shops around Calhoun in the past years. Such as, Moore’s Men and Boys Shop, Mulkey’s, her home place for many years was the Calhoun Watch Shop where she met so many friends and always had a smile for those coming in the door! If you needed some good advice on a problem, a good recipe for her famous Salmon Patties and Yummy Biscuits, or just a smile and hug she was the source!  She wore the title of “The Boss” as being from such a large family she helped with the younger children and in later life was like another mother to us all. She will be truly missed every day of our lives but will never be forgotten and her beautiful legacy will live on!

Funeral arrangements are at Thomas Funeral Home, Calhoun, GA. Visitation is Saturday, March 18th,  5pm to 8 pm and the Funeral Service is Sunday, March 19th at 3 pm. Officiating the service will be Brother Greg Burgner.

Pallbearers  are Josh Hobgood , Shawn Hobgood, Ryan Smith, Ross Page, Cole Page and Darryl Adcock.  Burial  will follow in Chandler cemetery.
